Sarva Mangala Mangalye ,Sive Sarvartha Sadhike

Chanting this auspicious Devi mantra, we bow to the Mother of three worlds and begin our Navratri festivities.
The nine-day long festival of Navratri is celebrated to honor Goddess Durga, the slayer of Mahishasur, the demon. According to legend, Mahishasur could remain immortal until he was defeated at the hands of a woman. High on his super power, he wreaked havoc across the three realms. To put an end to his evil ways, the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva combined to create Shakti or Goddess Durga.
The fierce battle between the demon and Devi lasted for 9 days when finally, the Goddess slayed Mahishasur who had assumed the form of a buffalo. Symbolizing the victory of good or evil, each of these nine days celebrate different incarnations of the Goddess.
It is also believed that each day is associated with a particular color and donning these hues is supposed to bring in peace, positive energy and harmony to our lives.
